I'm not a scientist. I'm not an expert on environmentalism. I'm just an average Joe (Jane?) trying to be as good as I can to the planet. Sometimes I hear people say that Al Gore is a hypocrite because he uses SOOO much energy, then gains his carbon neutrality by buying it off (or some variation of that). I don't really see a problem.... He is carbon neutral, is he not? Does his neutrality no longer count because he PAYS for it? It's not a secret that wealthy people can afford more luxuries than the rest of us. So.... let's say he has a maid (not sure if he does or not). Does that mean his home doesn't count as being clean just because he doesn't do it himself? If it's clean, it's clean - no matter how it gets done, no matter the cost. Right? Doesn't the same apply to being carbon neutral? Carbon neutral = carbon neutral, no matter how it's done. Or, am I missing something?
